Does neurofeedback put electricity into the brain?

No. EEG sensors measure electrical activity generated by the brain. The sensors used for neurofeedback do not electrically stimulate the brain.

Do I have to live in Asheville?

Not necessarily. Appropriately selected patients throughout North Carolina may be able to complete much of their neurofeedback training from home while remaining under professional clinical supervision.

Do I have to come into the office for every session?

No. Appropriately selected patients can complete much of their training from home.

Do I have to stop medication?

No. Patients should not discontinue or change prescribed medications without consulting the healthcare professional who prescribed them. Neurofeedback can often be provided alongside medication and other treatments.

Is neurofeedback a replacement for psychotherapy?

Not necessarily. Neurofeedback and psychotherapy address different aspects of functioning and may be used together.

How do you determine what to train?

Clinical history, symptoms, EEG findings, testing, treatment goals, and response to treatment may all contribute to individualized protocol decisions.

How do you know if neurofeedback is working?

We monitor symptoms, functioning, and neurofeedback training data. When appropriate, attention, cognitive, psychological, behavioral, or other measures may also be repeated to objectively evaluate change.

How much does the program cost?

Our comprehensive three-month clinical neurofeedback program is $1,800.

The program includes clinical assessment, EEG brain mapping, testing as clinically indicated, individualized treatment planning, home neurofeedback training, clinical monitoring, protocol adjustments, and follow-up outcome measurement.

Is neurofeedback covered by insurance?

Insurance coverage varies by carrier, plan, and service.

Participation by ACWC with an insurance carrier does not automatically mean neurofeedback, testing, EEG assessment, equipment, or every component of the program will be covered.
